Today was a lot different from the other days that I have spent in the classroom. Our schedule was completely different today. First we began the day with a special meeting where our students got to meet the school mascot, The Quail! They were all so excited about it and I loved getting to see their faces light up! They were also given the task of creating a "First grade mascot" in the classroom!
Another change in our schedule today was that we didn't do Teacher Led P.E. because the school is hosting Open House tonight and they didn't want the teachers to be all smelly and sweaty! This was pretty cool because I got to actually see the writing period that we usually have to skip due to teacher led.
Later in the day we had been scheduled to go to the media center for the first time this year so that the students could finally check out a book! We had some time before they had to go to specials so they were given a chance to read their books. This was the time that one student, who has communication issues and usually doesn't interact with anyone looked up at me, gave me a big smile and asked me "When are you coming back? I like it when you're here!" This made my heart melt as this was the first interaction he had with me since I began my internship.
Overall today was an amazing day and I can't wait to get back in the classroom again!
